Research: Investigating the mechanisms of large animal right ventricular dysfunction

Jenna Mendelson is a 5th year PhD student in Dr. Kurt Prins’s lab where she studies the mechanisms of right ventricular dysfunction in large animal models. Her research uses cardiac MRI, single-nucleus RNA sequencing, advanced microscopy, proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics to comprehensively evaluate a novel therapy for RV dysfunction. She is a leader in the department, serving as the student representative on the faculty steering committee, and has received several awards at the local and national level including an NIH F31 fellowship and the American Heart Association Cournand and Comroe Early Career Investigator Award in 2024. Outside of lab, Jenna loves Ohio State football, movies, and distance running.
